Ahmed Azzawi
 (1977, Sarra / Salher ADDE, Iraq) was supposed to become a medical doctor but decided at the age of 15 to devote his life to poetry and literature. He studied at the Institute of Arabic Languages at the University of Baghdad and finalized in 2004 with a Master in Modern Literature. Azzawi is a co-founder of the Iraqi group "Free Cultural Forum" which brought together young writers and hosted many cultural events but never appeared because of the war. In 2008 Azzawi joined the faculty of the University of Tikrit as professor of Modern Literature. His own writings include a number of poetry collection, e.g. "Life with the Eye", "The Absence of Houses" and "You were a little long, and a study on the character in novels (Union of Arab Writers, 2007). In 2009 he received a Diwan Poetryprize for his latest collection of poems.
